Tommy Kaira is a legendary tuning company based in Kyoto, Japan.  Originally founded way back in 1968 under a different name; Tommy Kaira signature cars have graced the covers of magazines and been featured in numerous video games for years.  But it wasn’t until the late 1980’s that Tommy Kaira begun producing fully tuned signature cars.  Their first releases were not Japanese cars at all; they were souped up Mercedes vehicles.  Tommy Kaira eventually won contracts with giant manufactures like Nissan and Subaru.  And it was these highly sought after tuned version of the Nissan Skyline GTR that made a name in the tuning world for Tommy Kaira.  Released to the public at the 2010 Tokyo AutoSalon; the Tommy Kaira R35 GTR Ebbrezza-R was an instant hit. The great thing about Japanese car manufacturers is that many parts are interchangeable between makes.  Just look to Honda and the variety of engine swaps that fit into a myriad of little cars.  The Nissan 300ZX is a worthy car in the long history of Z-cars.  This bad boy cam loaded with a twin-turbo dual-cam engine.  But this 300ZX is unlike any other.  While most work around the cramped spaces of the VG30DET engine bay, Russ Tennyson had something more magical up his sleeve; a RB26DETT engine out of a Nissan Skyline. Many people that modify their cars are usually the ones that do it for personal expression, with the exception of trust-fund babies, who modify their cars just for the hell of it or for a possible tax write-off.  But of course you don’t need a high IQ and paycheck to realize that many auto platforms can be improved upon. Only one example of this is the very early Acura NSX. While praised for its light weight of 3100 pounds and handling dexterity the two-seater with a mid-engine really doesn’t pack much of a punch in the hp unit. The NSX has a horsepower of 270 and a 210lb-ft. of torque, which doesn’t quite compare with the other fast cars of the time.   Read more »

Powerhouse Amuse has been one of the legendary tuning companies in Japan. Their most recent venture has been into the realm of the Nissan GTR. Known for their sleek white cars with a plethora of parts both aero and engine tuning; Powerhouse Amuse is one of those legendary JDM tuners. The Amuse GTR R35, nicknamed Phantom, features cool carbon fiber parts, suspension, and some engine tuning that boost the power output to over 600 hp!
